YouTube timestamp link & chapter builder

Make the useful parts of a video easy to share. Paste timestamp labels once to build direct links and check whether your outline meets the basic chapter-format rules.

Input YouTube video URL · Timestamp and label lines · Optional video durationOutput Direct timestamp links · Chapter TXT · CSV link table

Build your links

One timestamp and label per line. Use seconds, M:SS, or H:MM:SS, followed by a space. Up to 200 entries; 300 characters per label.

Needed to check the final chapter’s length. Enter it yourself; the tool does not fetch video details.

Chapter check

YouTube’s basic format: begin at 0:00, include at least three chapters in ascending order, and give each chapter at least 10 seconds. These checks do not guarantee chapter eligibility.

Add your URL and timestamp labels to begin.

TXT contains timestamps and labels for a description. CSV includes the direct YouTube link for every entry. To publish chapters, edit your video description in YouTube Studio.

    How to use it

    1. Paste a YouTube video URL. Standard watch, share, Shorts, and embed URLs are accepted; unrelated websites are rejected.
    2. Enter one timestamp and label per line, for example “1:30 Worked example”. Keep the intended chapter order.
    3. Add the total video duration if you want to check the final chapter length. Generate links and read any chapter warnings.
    4. Download the chapter TXT for a video description, or CSV for a spreadsheet with one direct link per moment. You must add chapters to your own video in YouTube Studio yourself.

    A small example

A 4:00 tutorial could use “0:00 Overview”, “0:45 Setup”, and “2:10 Worked example”. Those starts create chapters of 45, 85, and 110 seconds. The same entries also become individual links you can share in lesson notes.

    What to know

    • YouTube’s manual-chapter format starts at 0:00, includes at least three timestamps in ascending order, and gives each chapter at least 10 seconds. Without the video duration, the last chapter length cannot be verified.
    • Passing these checks does not guarantee chapters will appear. YouTube controls access and eligibility, and this tool cannot inspect a channel, video, description, or total duration.
    • Links are generated locally. Opening a result sends you to YouTube. No videos or metadata are fetched, and nothing is added to YouTube Studio.
    • Up to 200 lines, 300 characters per label, and 100,000 input characters. Use whole-second timestamps up to 168 hours. CSV cells that could act as spreadsheet formulas are prefixed with an apostrophe.
